MXRewind Unadilla

I made the trip down to Unadilla MX Park this past weekend for MX Rewind; my second time there since taking pictures the national two years ago. This is the second year for MX Rewind at Unadilla and I am thinking that next year will be even bigger. AHRMA holds a three day race for vintage and post vintage bikes. Friday is a cross country race which is four miles long each lap and after the rain they have had the track was really muddy. Saturday is vintage and Unadilla support classes. There were a total of thirty AHRMA moto's and eight support moto's. This made for a very long day, and I wished the support classes were in the middle of the day but AHRMA didn't want that. Half way through the day the legends came out to race which was awesome! These riders still go as hard as they did twenty years ago. Brad Lackey, Guy Cooper, Danny Laporte and others put on a great show and had a post race chat about the days' race and past races. Friday night you could just walk up and talk to any one of them and talk about racing in the old days. Sunday had seventeen post vintage moto's and eight support moto's. They cut the moto's to three laps because the weather was looking not so good. The whole weekend was fun, everyone had a blast and getting to see so many different styles of motocross bikes was pretty cool. If you can make it next year make sure to put it on your calendar!

Canada was well represented at Unadilla.

SteelCityRider at Gopher Dunes

This past Sunday, the SteelCityRiders raced at GopherDunes .

These races are a little different for me; my family races at this club.
I have a brother-in-law, two nieces and a nephew that race so I tend to watch more than take pictures.
SCR is not as big as some clubs, which creates a small family atmosphere between riders and families.

I try to help out as much as I can with pictures and flagging when needed.

One thing different about this club is a member must do a work day sometime through the MX season, which could include flagging or working the start gate.
Friends and family usually help if a rider misses a round or two and need to race that day.

I only got to see the first motos because I had to work later.

The 65cc class had a cool race with three riders fighting for first and at one point the first place rider, Zackery Ethridge, looped out and fell to third only to come back on the last lap to win.

The Vet Master class had a good battle between Jamie McCollum and Jason McAlpine. The two were racing hard when Jamie washed out in a corner on the last lap and took Jason down with him.
Jason got first on his KTM and beat Jamie to the finish.

The Pro division had a fast group with Pete Venczel, the #1 guy being chased by a handfull of fast riders.
One of the funny things that happened that didn't looked funny was Dakota Beamer on the ground in pain.
It turned out he might have landed the big table without his foot on the pegs and might be singing soprano the rest of the week lol.

SCR next race is at Grand Bend Motorplex this weekend.

CMRC ANQ Motopark

This past Sunday I made the trip up to Motopark for the CMRC ANQ.
The place was packed full of riders; pretty sure the horses thought they would have to move out.
The track was in great shape and thanks to the new topsoil they put in a few sections, the track held up very well.

The Pro races were fun to watch. Kyle Keast won them but got a good challenge from Liam O'farrell, who had his TM ride running much better than at Gopher Dunes.

I met rider, Dan Miller, who had just came back after eight years off and looked like he was having a fun day. After I left, he had crashed, cracked his skull and temporarily lost vision in one eye. I hope he gets better and heals up.

I have to rant a little about "flaggers". I know 95 percent of them do a great job but some shouldn't do it. I have seen at different tracks flaggers using the flag as a blanket or sitting with their backs to the track and too into each other instead watching the riders. It frustrates the hell out of me. I spend most of the day out on the track and have given a couple of them my 2 cents worth. I wear a yellow or orange shirt when I am out shooting just in case a rider goes down. I can alert other riders to the problem. There are four things you need to be a flagger: 1) a chair 2) an umbrella 3) a cooler with drinks, and 4) common sense. Not sure if there's a minimum age for doing that job.

Wish I was going to Sand Del Lee this weekend. The track is cool and fun to shoot at.

I’ll be at Gopher Dunes with my family for the SCR race on the big track.

Roost dosn't always do the body good!

on his Honda.

Ryan Lockhart aka "Newf" think he
knows product name placement.
